ABOUT FCF

Putting Our Experience to Work

The Full Count Foundation was established in 2015 to provide local Detroit youth with a safe and supportive environment away from violence and Temptations that destroy way too many lives of inner-city children.  FCF Blends education in athletics with a focus on diversity in baseball and beyond. With strong partnerships with school districts and other organizations, FCF introduces hundreds of low-income children in Detroit to baseball and softball each year while combining academic support. FCF has over 250 active members both boys and girls ages 4 through 18 years old. Annually, FCF deals with hundreds of kids through numerous baseball, educational, and community service programs. Three members have been drafted recently to the major leagues. Over 30 Fcf members hold baseball scholarships to collegiate programs from power five schools all the way to junior college baseball programs. Our Tball and coach pitch program serves over 150 kids ages 4-9 years old.

PROGRAM PILLARS

Putting Our Experience to Work

1. Advocacy & Diversity, Equity & Inclusion - FCF allows all children, no matter their financial situation, the same opportunities to participate in high-quality baseball events. FCF provides opportunities to expand the game of baseball and softball to make sure our girls have equal opportunities to participate in events. Our goal is to show FCF members how big the world is outside of their community and that baseball can take you anywhere. Furthermore, FCF aims to make sure all kids have a level playing field.

2.
Local Youth Baseball/Softball Program- The Detroit Regional Impact Little League has served children in the communities of Detroit, Ecorse, Harper Woods, Southfield, and Hamtramck. Currently, we can serve 100 kids through our t-ball and coach pitch little leagues. The league is free and all boys and girls are equipped with a full uniform, gloves, and cleats. The program lasted from the summer fall. Our goal is to keep expanding throughout local and metro Detroit communities annually.

3. Travel Baseball/Softball- Most kids in our program cannot afford to play travel baseball. FCF provides a travel ball experience for those student-athletes. Youth members get to travel across the country and play baseball. We give them the full experience of what it’s like to be a Division-1 scholar-athlete by paying for all of their expenses. We also travel to participate in college showcases in front of collegiate and professional recruiters. These provide opportunities for our children to attain scholarship offers, travel the world, and network.

4.
College Tours – Our college tours are designed to give student-athletes that college experience. We pick a region, choose several schools and arrange campus visits and private workouts with the local colleges. We feed, house, and transport the kids across the country to different campuses. We visit local museums and sites that are educational for the kids.

5.
Out-of-School Learning – The Say Detroit Play Center has partnered with the Full Count Foundation to provide the after-school baseball experience for children in the Harper Woods School District middle school. Transportation will be provided to and from the Say Center to a central location in Harper Woods or at home. Mandatory homework checks, a hot meal, extracurriculars, and baseball three days a week. This program is also available for kids in the surrounding Detroit communities. Student-athletes in the school district have access to classes that include cyber security, web design, clothing design, broadcasting, culinary arts, and e-games.

6.
Coaching – Through our experiences, we noticed that there is a shortage of coaches that are young in age. Kids these days can relate to coaches that look like them or have the ability to show rather than just talk. That is why we emphasize getting young people involved in coaching. We provide opportunities for our high school and college players to come back and teach the next generation. We’ve learned that it sounds different coming from someone whom they have more in common with. These opportunities also give those coaches a chance to make some money while out of school.

7.
Capacity Building – We have the opportunity to change the entire landscape of inner-city baseball with an indoor space large enough to do so. FCF is in search of the perfect facility that spans tens of thousands of square feet. With this space, we will be able to have year-round training to better prepare our athletes for elite competition. This will also serve as a haven for the hundreds of baseball players in the city with nowhere to enhance their skills. With this space, we will be able to host thousands of student-athletes.
